Device Overview:
The design of the MU521 is based on the US-T28 transceiver module with a special carrier board designed to suit for these sensor applications. They are mounted back to back together to keep in a small form factor.
An 8-pin connector at the solder side of the MU521 board is shown below. This connector is designed for easy connection to other external device which provides power and signals to the MU521 module.
The MU521 provides a LDO component for higher voltage input devices (Picture 1.2), if the target sensor is able to give +3V DC to the MU521 module, the LDO can be bypassed, or removed by shorting the input and output points (block R13) as depicted in picture 1.2 and picture 1.3.
